Who needs a platform?

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this on here before, but I am totally over platform heels (feel like that was a line out of Clueless). At the moment I have discovered sky-high sandals, and court shoes (a la Pigalle from Christian Louboutin)

While a window-shopping trip to Net-A-Porter I discovered these absolutely perfect Sophia Webster studded suede and patent leather sandals. They are perfect because they have the perfect mix of sophistication and hooker chic about them.

I hope I can welcome them to my shoe family soon… *fingers crossed*

Lusting After: Charlotte Olympia’s Cosmic Collection

Fallonista

My birthday is coming up (June 10th for anyone interested), it’s going to be the big 2-5, which means I’ll be a quarter of a century old better known as maybe time to stop buying mini dresses (never) or dresses that resemble something from the Sugerplump Fairy’s wardrobe (I can’t be the only girl woman who still loves tutus), wear sensible shoes (I’d rather die) along with being a bit more serious (not going to happen) and actually putting some money away (and I don’t mean in my wardrobe in the form of shoes).

As much as I love everything personalised and monogrammed, I love everything horoscope related. This probably falls under the ‘be a bit more sensible’ criteria but I still read my horoscope every day, and like to think that if something related happens it was all destined in the stars. Please, tell me someone else does this too?

Which is why I am loving Charlotte Olympia’s new Cosmic Collection, especially the Gemini clutch! I’m not sure about the flat shoes, but then if I got them I would be fulfilling the ‘sensible shoes’ criteria while still being cute. Now, that’s a sensible argument!

Charlotte Olympia Gemini Clutch and Shoes

where to buy: Gemini Birthday Shoes, £495.00, Charlotte Olympia | Gemini Zodia Pandora Clutch, £695.00, Charlotte Olympia

And if you’re also a Gemini, here’s our horoscope for this month:

The Sun travels through your twelfth house now, marking a time of retreat and regeneration. Think about the attachments you have–to things, people, and routines–and consider which ones are dragging you down. This is a time when competitive energies and the ego are on a bit of a break. It’s not the time to push ahead with brand new projects. Rather, it’s a time of reflection, dreaming, and recharging your batteries. Situations that have naturally outgrown their usefulness in your life can now be put behind you. Endings of natural cycles may be part of the picture at this time of year. Your energy is largely applied to personal and private affairs now. Your disposition is introspective. Rest and reflect, and prepare for a more outgoing cycle when the Sun moves into your first house.

White Out

White shoes used to be synonymous with Essex girls (if you don’t know what this is, please type TOWIE into your google bar this instance!) However, for the last few weeks I have found myself obsessing over white stilettos and court shoes.

I’ve decided to collate my favourite pair of white heels here for you to peruse, although I can imagine quite a few of you thinking I have lost my mind thinking that they are chic, but I’m telling you white is the new black! Plus, white makes you look more tanned and that’s exactly what you need for Spring/Summer time (even though it still doesn’t feel like that here).

Which are your favourite?

White Out Heels

Flora Leather Point Toe Court Shoe, £185.00, L.K.Bennett | Hostage Heeled Sandals, £42.oo, ASOS | Ankle Strap Sandals, £39.99, Zara | Paulina PVC 100mm, £425, Christian Louboutin | Leather Pumps, £595, Lanvin | Slash Lacquered Heels, £340, MCQ Alexander McQueen | Pointed Metallic Toe Court Shoes, £350.00, Duccio Venturi | Laser Cut High-Vamp Stiletto Sandals, £65, River Island | Gwenda Pointed Court, £58, Topshop

My favourite are probably the L.K.Bennett courts… I have to say they’ve been producing great shoes of late! (Remember their recent collaboration?)

Chanel Resort 2014

Last week Karl Lagerfeld showed his resort collection in Singapore, only a man like him could confidently show a collection on the other-side of the world and be sure that everyone would trek/hike/fly/walk there (if necessary) to see what genius artistry he had come up with now.

Chanel Resort 2014 Chanel Resort 2014 Chanel Resort 2014

Only Chanel could pull off the casual, “I have nothing to do today, so want to be comfortable in my clothes” look and still make it look so luxurious… Pearls with drawstring waists? Yes please! I particularly love the oversized varsity-inspired sweaters, and the slouchy off the shoulder blouses.

The disappointment is that I was expecting an Asian twist on the collection, as Karl Lagerfeld usually is inspired by his chosen location for the show… What do you think about the collection?

“Once Upon A Time…” by Karl Lagerfeld

Am I being unfair by saying that I am very underwhelmed by the this short film about Coco Chanel? I feel as if I was expecting so much, and what has been delivered just doesn’t meet my expectations. It’s certainly light and beautifully made, but it’s nothing extraordinary.

Karl Lagerfeld’s film is about Coco Chanel’s first shop in Deauville, France. Set in 1913, Kiera Knightley takes the lead role as Coco Chanel and has a supporing cast that would make a Vogue cover proud. We see Lindsey Wixson, Ashleigh Good, Tallulah Harlech, Caroline de Maigret, Amanda Harlech, Stella Tennant, Jamie Bochert, and Saskia de Brauw, all appear in black and white on screen for the short film.

Watch the film, and let me know your thoughts below in the comments…

Valentino autmn/winter 2013 ad campaign

Valentino AW 2013 ad campaign featuring Terry Richardson

I love this ad campaign for Valentino autumn winter 2013 collection! The counterposition of the manly arms, with the feminine accessories, works so well. While most brands tend to use supermodels to display their accessories collections, Valentino decided to pull from behind the camera, using photographer Terry Richardson in their campaign. The photographer’s tattooed arm is seen holding onto the Rockstud Clutch and Rockstud heel from the new collection- am I the only person drooling on their laptop? I love both items, and feel like my life is incomplete without either *yes, slightly melodramatic, but that’s fashion for you*

This is the first time Valentino has worked with Terry Richardson, but as we all know this is far from Richardson’s first time in front of a camera.

Cara Delevingne covers Miss Vogue June 2013

Cara Delevingne on the cover of Miss Vogue June 2013Continuing on the Vogue thread… This month sees the launch of Miss Vogue, which will be distributed along with British Vogue and there couldn’t be anyone better than Cara Delevingne to be the coverstar. I absolutely adore this cover, it’s so ‘fresh’… for lack of a better word!

I also happen to love the outfit. I am turning a quarter of a century old next month, do you think I could still pull it off? Or do I let the next generation of girls try this trend out?

Kate Moss covers Vogue UK June 2013

Kate Moss on the cover of Vogue UK June 2013

When I first saw this cover I thought I liked it, but the more I look at it the more ‘off’ it seems. Her badly applied eye-make up (forgetting to apply eyeliner on the inner rim, has given her a sort of lopsided eye) has just ruined a cover look that could have been beautiful.

Although, in all honestly I am bored of Kate Moss epitomising Brigitte Bardot, feel like that look has been fully covered now.

Your thoughts?
