Paris Fashion Week: Chanel Autumn/Winter 2012

I am usually a huge fan of Karl’s Chanel productions when it comes to their fashion shows. However, this year, I found the clothes so disappointing, no matter how amazing the backdrop was, the collection totally let it down.

The collection featured shades of grey and monochrome, offset with pops of colour. Futuristic touches included coloured panelling, blue metallics and superhero-style fingerless gloves (the only Chanel-esque aspect of the whole collection).

The best part of the whole collection was the pearl eye-brows. Incredible! The models wore fake eyebrows embroidered by Lesage*, which took three hours per pair** to make. Not a trend I think will be catching on, but pretty spectacular!

* Lesage is of course the renowned French embroidery atelier.

** 3 hours per pair, 40 (or more) models = approximately 120 hours just on eyebrows for a 15 minute fashion show.
